Well if you were not at our 6th Annual Miami Trails Appreciation Day on Saturday April 30, 2016 you have no idea what you missed. (See the pictures posted on our Facebook Page). The weather was beautiful all day long thru our Free BBQ Lunch hosted by the Stewards and prepared by our chefs Russ and Zach.
Our registration crew was staffed by Sharon, Joyce, and Leslie. They did a great job getting everybody registered and their Free Raffle tickets in hand. We had over 100 people show up for the day and we had many different types of OHVs in attendance.
After our morning safety meeting done by Steve our Trail Boss for the day and an update on the new proposed Black Hawk OHV Park in Madera County given by Rick Farinelli everybody got into groups and went out into the Miami Trails Area and did a little light trail maintenance and removed all of the unsightly trash left laying around by careless people.
A big Thank You to Summer for hauling a full pickup load of trash to the dumpster for us. Way to Go Girl.
We all met back at the staging area in the afternoon for a great BBQ lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs and all of the fixings and to give away the tables full of Free Swag donated by our sponsors.
I did mention that the weather was beautiful thru our lunch right. Well just after everyone had eaten and we started into our raffle that’s when it changed and the skies decided to open up and let a little bit of liquid sunshine fall down from the heavens.
But that did not stop our raffle. One of our sponsors had donated a box full of umbrellas for us to give away during our raffle. Up until that point no one was picking umbrellas from the swag table. That changed quickly as the rain drops seemed to change to what felt like Buckets Full of Water coming down from the heavens. At that point we handed out all of the umbrellas and a lot of people got to know each other a lot better as they were huddling under them from the rain. Good News is, no left and we continued to hand out swag and the rain quit after about 10 minutes.
All in all everybody had a good time and everyone made some new friends and riding buddies. I want to send out a BIG THANK YOU to all of our sponsors for supporting the Stewards and helping to Keep Public Lands Open to the Public Not From the Public and all of the great work you our members do out in the Sierra National Forest to help keep it in shape for you and your families enjoyment.
If you missed this event don’t worry as we will be hosting our 4th Annual Whiskey Falls Trail Appreciation Day on Saturday June 4, 2016 at the Iron Telephone Staging Area located above North Fork California just off of Forest road 8S09. More Info coming soon. I am looking forward to seeing all of you there and many more new faces also as the Stewards of the Sierra grow larger all of the time.
